The door clicked shut as the nurses stepped out, leaving the room blanketed in a heavy, fragile silence. Left alone, the girl began shaking even more violently, her teeth chattering so loudly the sound seemed to echo off the stark walls.
Sensing the girl's physical shock, Veda immediately walked over to the thermostat, decreasing the air conditioning and switching on the wall heaters to let warmth flood the room.
